This reading tells us about the conversations jesus had to farewell his disciples.

The events that occurred in the upper room also known as the cenacle are described in matthew 26 1 29 mark 14 12 25 luke 22 7 20 and john 13 1 38. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the lord. 21 so jesus said to them again peace be with. What a picture of philippians 2 7 which tells us that he came into this.

What happened in the upper room answer. In these five chapters we see intimate teaching about service love the holy spirit heaven our union with christ and prayer. The passage known as the upper room discourse in the gospel of john chapters 13 through 17 takes us into the intimate thoughts of jesus just before his crucifixion.

Chapters 13 through 17 often called the upper room discourse contain so much profound theology that we can only touch on a few salient points for our purposes we are specifically interested in examining chapters 14 through 17. It is important to recognize that jesus words are not a dispassionate lecture.
